Jacking Horse

Surf guide

Tucked away in Siargao’s iconic Cloud 9 area, Jacking Horse is a right-hand reef break with small gentle waves at the front, perfect for beginners, and a more challenging wave at the back for intermediate surfers. The break is a short stroll from the Cloud 9 pier, where plenty of surfing instructors are usually waiting to guide beginners through their first surf session. The front break offers a gentle takeoff over a flat reef bottom, making it ideal for instructors to push their students onto waves in waist deep water. Further out, almost in line with Quicksilver, there’s a more challenging reef break that can connect with the inside section of Jacking Horse when the swell is just right. The back is a great spot for intermediate surfers to practice their pop up if the current isn't running too hard. You can surf Jacking Horse at any tide, but be cautious of strong sideways currents during mid to high tides and full moons. Also, watch out for rocky patches that become visible at low tide.

LOCAL TIP: You can also enter through the gate leading to Isla Corgis to avoid paying entrance fees, but be mindful that you should support local businesses that leave the entrance open to visitors.
